Success!

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Elevated Press open house and Peter Baker photography exhibition! We had a great turn-out, lots of supportive friends and plenty of curious people who had never stopped in before.
Here are a few pics... Hopefully we'll get some more photos from others who attended that night. Send 'em to me if you've got 'em!

~Michelle

Crowd shot... busy, busy! Crowd shot... busy, busy!

A few people still hanging out at the end of the night, and a view of some of Pete's photos in the space. A few people still hanging out at the end of the night, and a view of some of Pete's photos in the space.

All the presses in a row! All the presses in a row!

Elevated Press Open House Tomorrow Night!

In case it slipped your mind, here is your reminder that the Elevated Press open house is happening tomorrow night, Saturday, February 20th from 7pm - 11pm-ish.

We hope you can join us for an open house at Michigan's newest design and letterpress printing studio, Elevated Press. Founder Michelle Baker will be showing off work by the studio, and the 75 to 110 year old machines used to produce it.

Also on display, the photographs of Peter Baker, whose work has been exhibited around the country and the rest of the world, as well as appeared in numerous magazines including Metropolis, I.D., and How. He will be showing recent work focusing on the state of Michigan, as well as previous works.

Greeting cards, prints, and limited edition photographs will all be on sale.

Forest Juziuk will be providing the musical styling, and J. Trees Cellars will be providing their newest varieties of wine.

[This will be the first in a series of 3 local artist exhibitions at this space, with a larger 4th culminating group show in another space. The dates for the other three shows are planned for March 6th, March 20th, and April 3rd.]

The Pains of Printing

When I'm on a busy printing schedule, I start to notice a recurring phenomenon... tired legs and sore feet. Now I'm really sounding old!
Ever since we moved into our current studio space with concrete floors, I have been dreaming of getting these anti-fatigue, chef's gel mats to place in front of the presses. I've stood on them at a relatives house and it feels like walking on a cloud. The only downfall is that the major brand of these starts at 100 bucks, a little steep considering I'd like to get about 3 of these.
Does anyone know of a comparable product that's a bit cheaper? I'd love to know if that exists!
